Darulfatwa the Islamic High Council of Australia A Call for unity against radicalisation and cooperation

Darulfatwa has received yesterday’s news of the raids with a great deal of concern as they involved and uncovered the intent of some fanatics to commit savage acts here in Australia.

Darulfatwa and the Muslim community condemn vehemently all such heinous intent and those responsible for them. Islam and the Muslim community reject all unlawful acts by criminal cults whose sole purpose is to provide unrest for the Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

We need to reiterate that the government is charged with our national security and as such the government must do everything in its power to re-examine and re-assess some self-proclaimed religious leaders who in truth are set to radicalise the disadvantaged youth and in the process marginalize our great Muslim community.

Islamic values and principles clearly promote love for good, peace and harmony and an appreciation of a homeland we call Australia.

Darulfatwa has been working tirelessly for many years to help our proud Muslim community merge positively with the fabric that makes multicultural Australia what it is today.

We need a comprehensive strategic plan to de-radicalise many of today’s youth who are easily attracted to extremist ideologies, ones that are capable of producing people like those who were caught with the intent to kill and behead other Australians.

It is time that our government realised that the threshold for action on its part to stop extremism cannot be set at the level of actual criminal activity by the extremists rather the threshold should be lowered to the point of disallowing incorrect teachings and extremism related motivational speeches and speakers in varying centres around the country. The government should not be caught in the web of political correctness of the conventional freedom of speech when national security is compromised.

Extremism is an ideology before it materializes into action and these ideologies should be rejected and stopped including its means of speakers, speeches and centres.

We remind the government that the safety of all Australians lies in its hands and particularly in the hands of the prime minister whose duty is to protect the innocent from any atrocities, as it is his duty to protect the rights of all Muslims who should not pay a price of discrimination or hate campaigns against them as Muslims are as much a victim of these horrid doctrines as non-Muslims are.

Darulfatwa supports all actions taken by the Australian authorities to stop any form of terrorism on Australian soil. Hence we call upon the community to fully cooperate and support the government in their efforts to maintain order and provide peace of mind to all Australians.

We thank our government for its effort thus far and we assure all Australians that we at Darulfatwa are set in our views of maintaining security and peace for all Australians.

Darul-Fatwa Australia
