Alwaleed Foundation Supports Philippines Victims of Typhoon Yolanda with $1 Million

Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation – Global (Registered in Lebanon) chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, announced a one million dollar donation to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines on Tuesday, 26th November 2013.

The donation was made in collaboration with leading the NRRMC National Risk Reduction and Management Council, the UNICEF and The World Food Program WFP. The aid supports the victims of the tragedy in all affected areas in an aim to help rebuild their homes and lives.

Alwaleed Foundation has been actively supporting the Philippines in previous years. In 2011,Prince Alwaleed received at his office in Riyadh, H.E. Jejomar C.Binay, Vice President of the Philippines and an accompanying delegation. HRH was also awarded the Highest National Honorary Medal,The Order of The Golden Heart With the Rank of Grand Officer.

In 2009, Alwaleed Foundation supported the Philippines through a donation for medical aid for the Typhoon Ketsana victims in an aim to alleviate the suffering of hundreds of victims affected by the disaster. The Alwaleed Foundation has also supported the Muslim Mindanao Integrated Higher Development Center (CHED-ARMM), Philippines for capacity building, research and scholarships.

The Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundations are involved in a wide spectrum of humanitarian and philanthropic activities in more than 80 countries. Their main focus areas have been established around strategic initiatives, ranging from Disaster Relief and Community Development, to Women and Youth Empowerment, as well as Promoting Intercultural Understanding.
