Media Week hails Press landmarks

Muscat: The Omani Journalism and Media Week activities organised by the Omani Journalism Association in cooperation with the Ministry of Information started at Oman International Exhibition Centre yesterday under the auspices of Abdul Aziz bin Mohammed Al Rowas, His Majesty the Sultan's Adviser for Cultural Affairs.

The chief guest toured the exhibition area wherein 25 media institutions are taking part, including the Oman Journalists Association, the Ministry of Information, the Public Authority for Radio and TV, Oman Establishment for Press, Publishing and Advertising, Al Watan newspaper, Al Shabiba newspaper, Al Roaya newspaper, Al Nahdha magazine and auto magazine. It included corners for the special magazines and magazine published by a number of governmental and private agencies.

They also visited the 'Traits of Oman' exhibition which includes a large number of old pictures that were taken by photographers during the first decade of the Blessed Renaissance 1970 until 1980.

The celebration included a video on the Omani Journalism and Media Week and the honouring ceremony for the pioneers of the Omani media in the late 70s and 80s.

Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al Rowas, Adviser to His Majesty the Sultan for Cultural Affairs, received here yesterday participants in the three-day “Media and Journalism Week” which concluded yesterday. Information Minister Dr Abdulmunem bin Mansour al Hasani honoured participants in the “Media and Journalism Week”. The event, said  the minister, was of significance to the whole media sector,

including academicians at universities and colleges and information staff at government and private establishments.
