Sydney - M. E. Times Int'l: The Kuwaiti ambassador to Australia and New Zealand, Khaled Al Shaibani, discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Governor-General of New Zealand, Jerry Matiparay.
The talks came during HE Shaibani’s participation in New Zealand's Waitangi Day celebrations in Auckland.
HE Shaibani said that the Governor-General praised the bilateral relations between his country and Kuwait, and called to strengthen ties to be consistent with the aspirations of the political leadership of the two countries.
He explained that New Zealand’s national celebrations commemorated the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840 under which they recognised the rights of the indigenous people (Maori) in their land and the adoption of their language as an official language.
HE Shaibani said New Zealand was one of the developed countries, which was globally classified in many fields including education, economic freedom and lack of corruption.
