Alwaleed Foundation Participates in 2012 International Day of People with Special Needs
Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation (in Saudi Arabia) that is chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, and vice chaired by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, has sponsored and participated an event on the occasion of the International Day for People with Special Needs that took place on the 3rd of December at Kingdom Schools' Auditorium in Riyadh.
The event was attended by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, who is also the Secretary General of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundations ,families of people with special needs, representatives from Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City Rehabilitation Center at the King Fahad Medical City, and a number of prominent figures.
The event included a variety of awareness performances such as a social play titled "We are Alike" that was performed by a group rising talent including Moayad Althagafi and Mohammed Al-Sharif. The Guest of honor, the journalist Mr. Ammar Bogus delivered an opening statement on willpower. A group of talents including Thamer Alhazmi, Yaser Bakr, Basil Aldosari and Jotaro presented a standup comedy show which was followed by the illusionists Ahmed Alaqeel and Abulrahman Alarefi.
These performances took place on the occasion of the International Day of People with Special Needs aimed at emphasizing the need for social empowerment and integration of people with special needs, and acknowledgment of their abilities and achievements.
The Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation is involved in a wide spectrum of humanitarian activities reaching more than 70 countries. Its main focus areas have been established around strategic initiatives, ranging from Disaster Relief and Community Development, to Women and Youth Empowerment, as well as Promoting Global Cultural Understanding.
AlResalah Channel Receives Excellence Award from Forum for Social Studies
AlResalah Channel, Chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, receives an Excellence Award by the Forum For Social Studies (FFSS). AlResalah’s General Manager is Dr. Tariq Alsuwaidan.
The event was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at Dr. Abdullah Omar Nasseef’s residence. The Award was received by Dr. Walid Arab Hashem, Vice Chairman of AlResalah Channel. Moreover, the award was presented to AlResalah Channel for its pioneering endeavors and accessible to a worldwide audience; resourceful in the dissemination of Islamic awareness and knowledge; manifestation of a balanced approach and attainment of the appreciation of the society.

Prince Alwaleed Receives Philippines Ambassador to Saudi Arabia
HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) received at his office in Riyadh, H.E. Mr. Ezzedin H. Tago, Philippines Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Paisal D Abdullah, the Trade Attaché- Consulate General of the Philippines. The meeting was attended by Dr. Nahla Nasser Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman.
The meeting began as the Ambassador thanked Prince Alwaleed for giving him the opportunity to meet with him. On the agenda of discussions were social issues, investment issues and the bi-lateral economic relationship between their respective countries. During the meeting, the Ambassador extended an invitation for His Highness to visit his country. In response, the Prince promised to visit in the near future. In conclusion to the meeting, the Ambassador presented Prince Alwaleed with a symbolic gift.
Recently, Kingdom Hotel Investments (KHI), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Saudi Arabian conglomerate KHC, has signed an agreement with Ayalaland Hotels and Resorts Corp, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) concerning the sale of KHI’s economic interest in the Fairmont Hotel and Raffles Suites & Residences Makati development in the Philippines for SR218 million. The amount includes SR90 million in shares and SR128 million in other shareholder advances. The transaction closed on October 3, 2012. KHI will continue to be a stakeholder in the project through a financial interest with further earnout potential in the residential component and through Kingdom Holding’s ownership stake in Fairmont Raffles Hotels International (FRHI).
In 2011, Prince Alwaleed received at his office in Riyadh, H.E. Jejomar C. Binay, Vice President of the Philippines and an accompanying delegation. Prince Alwaleed had met the President of the Philippines H.E Ms. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on a number of occasions; in 2007 during the Prince’s last visit to the Philippines pursuant to an invitation by the President, HRH was awarded the Highest National Honorary Medal, The Order of The Golden Heart With the Rank of Grand Officer. Moreover, in 2009 HRH hosted a luncheon in her honor at Kingdom Tower during her visit to Saudi Arabia. Prince Alwaleed has solid ties with the Philippines through his investments in the financial sector through Citigroup.
In 2009, Prince Alwaleed had received a call from Ms. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who thanked him for his support and generous donation for medical aid for the Typhoon Ketsana victims. The immediate donation was made through Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation that is chaired by Prince Alwaleed and Vice Chaired by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel who is also the Secretary General, after the Prince’s meeting with H.E. Antonio Villamor, Former Ambassador of the Philippines to Saudi Arabia, where the Prince also conveyed his condolences to President Macapagal-Arroyo for the victims of the disaster and announced his readiness to donate. The allocation and distribution of the donation to those in need was in coordination with the Philippines government. The Foundation’s donation helped alleviate the suffering of hundreds of victims affected by this disaster.
In 2008, Alwaleed Foundation donated SR1,875,000 to Support for Muslim Mindanao Integrated Higher Development Center (CHED-ARMM), Philippines for capacity building, research and scholarships.
Prince Alwaleed Receives Ambassador of Bosnia Herzegovina
HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), received at his office in Riyadh HE Mr. Razim Čolić, Bosnian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Nahla Nasser Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman.
The meeting began as the Ambassador thanked the Prince for giving him the opportunity to meet with him. The two discussed economic and investment issues. Moreover, the Ambassador commended Prince Alwaleed on his many achievements especially his investments in the various sectors regionally and internationally. He also invited the Prince to explore investment opportunities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In June 2010, Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation Chaired by Prince Alwaleed and Vice chaired by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel who is also the Secretary General, made a €500,000 endowment for the HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Professorship in Business Development and Global Competitiveness at the Sarajevo School of Science & Technology, Bosnia & Herzegovina.
In May 2010, HRH was awarded Honorary Doctorate of Science, honoris causa from Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, during a ceremony held at Kingdom Resort in Riyadh. The Honorary Doctorate was conferred to HRH by Prof. Dr. Bozidar Matic, Chairman of the SSST University Board and President of the Academy of Science and Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event was attended by the Prince’s spouse, Princess Ameerah, Ms. Emina Ganic, daughter of former Bosnian President, SSST Manager of Academic Activities and Head of Development of the MET Foundation, the University founding body, and Mr. Emir Ganic, the son of the former Bosnian President, Executive Manager, Lecturer, Dept. of Computer Science and Information Systems. The ceremony was also attended by a Bosnian delegation from the university and members from KHC, and Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation. The honorary doctorate wa awarded to HRH in recognition of his efforts on many fronts including his investments through Kingdom Holding locally, regionally and internationally as a respected, distinguished international investor and entrepreneur, and the Prince’s educational, and philanthropic contributions on a global scale.
In January of 2010, the Prince received at his office in Riyadh, former President of Bosnia and Herzegovina HE Dr. Ejup N. Ganić who is currently the President and Rector of Sarajevo School of Science and Technology. In 2008, Prince Alwaleed received HE Dr. Haris Silajdžić the President of Bosnia and Herzegovina with an accompanying delegation and hosted a dinner in honor of his guest at Kingdom Resort. Also in 2008, Mr. Čolić, the Bosnian ambassador presented HRH with a letter from President Silajdžić. In the letter, the president thanked Prince Alwaleed for his donation of 338,800 Euros (SR1,965,040) through Alwaleed Foundation. The donation was to help support the “Sustainable Return of Refugees in Bosnia & Herzegovina” through the construction of roads. HRH responded to a proposal for support that was submitted by the Office of the President Silajdžić. The specific mission of the project is to construct six vital roads in the North-East of Bosnia & Herzegovina for the return of refugees to create conditions for sustainable return and attract new refugees to return to their pre-war homes. The implementing arm for the project is the Bosna Bank International (BBI). HRH had made various humanitarian contributions to Bosnia in the past. In 1992 Prince Alwaleed donated SR1,000,000 to Bosnia, in 1993, SR10,000,000 and in 1995, SR20,000,000.
Prince Alwaleed visited Bosnia in 2003 and met with President Sulejman Tihic at the time. During the visit, His Royal Highness was bestowed the Presidential medal by the Bosnian president. The Medal is considered to be the highest medal in the country.
