Joseph Rizk appointed as the new Managing Director for the Arab Bank Australia

23/12/2010

Sydney - Middle East Times Intl.: Arab Bank Australia announced in a press statement today the appointment of Mr. Joseph Rizk, as its new Managing Director to succeed Mr. James Wakim , who held this position for a period of 10 years .

The statement said that for the past five years Joseph has overseen the significant growth of Arab Bank Australia’s retail, commercial and trade banking operations – as well as its branch network – in his role of Chief Banking Officer. He was instrumental in maintaining the Bank’s strong performance during the global financial crisis and its solid balance sheet during turbulent times.

Joseph brings more than 30 years of corporate, commercial and international banking and finance experience to his new role, including several senior executive positions with National Australia Bank.

On his appointment, Mr Rizk said: “I am extremely excited and enthusiastic about this new challenge and I look forward to leading Arab Bank Australia, its dedicated staff and loyal customers to further success in the future”. Joseph replaces outgoing Managing Director Mr James Wakim, who headed up Arab Bank Australia for 10 years.

Commenting on the new appointment, Arab Bank Australia Deputy Chairman, Mr Geoff Wild said: “I would like to take this opportunity to wish James Wakim all the very best in his future endeavours and to thank him for his service to the Bank over the past 15 years. In turn we warmly welcome Joseph to his new role, and are confident his extensive experience across the banking spectrum - in particular his expertise in strategic planning and implementation - will help us continue to grow both the Bank’s operations and customer base as we move into a new year and beyond.”

Moving forward, three priority focus areas for the Bank under Joseph’s leadership will be: enhancing customer relationships; further development of innovative and competitive banking solutions; and expansion of the Bank’s network in Australia.

“By adhering to our long term customer relations, innovation and growth strategies, we anticipate another successful and award winning year in 2011,” said Mr Rizk.
