Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah and assistant foreign ministers attended the meeting held to greet Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah on becoming foreign minister. At the onset of the meeting, the minister welcomed the accredited diplomats in Kuwait as a sign of mutual willingness and interest in continuing communications. He said that Kuwait has always been eager to create a network of relationships and friendships with different world countries and peoples in line with the principles of mutual respect and respect of the states' sovereignty and privacy and non-interference in their domestic affairs, as well as supporting various regional and international mechanisms aiming at promoting bilateral or multilateral relations. Proceeding from these principles, Kuwait has adopted a balanced foreign policy based on peace, dialogue and belief in goals enshrined in the UN Charter just to establish the principles of international law and peace and to promote the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among the countries with their different cultures and religions, he said. He cited the role played by Kuwait during its non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2018 and 2019 as a relevant clear-cut paradigm. Also, out of belief in the significance of sustainable development and human development for serving humanity across the world, Kuwait - in December 1961; only six months following its independence - created Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) as the first-ever development corporation in the Middle East, with the aim of building bridges with different world countries, he said. After 59 years of accomplishments, the KFAED has been operating in 107 countries and contributing to human and health development, in collaboration with regional and international countries and organizations, the foreign minister noted. He asked the attendees to look into how to promote and bolster existing cooperation between Kuwait and their own countries in all spheres, noting that his ministry's staff stand well-prepared to help in this regard. Finally, he vowed that his country would pursue its foreign and diplomatic policy, which was established by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. On his part, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Senegalese Ambassador in Kuwait Abdulahad Mbaki, on behalf of the guests, congratulated Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah on having been picked as foreign minister. He reminisced the deep history and shining marks of Kuwait's foreign policy, which was created by His Highness the Amir to make the Gulf country a humanitarian hub and venue for regional and international conferences to settle conflicts and back needy countries. He voiced the readiness of all accredited diplomatic missions in Kuwait to do their best to serve the common interests of Kuwait and other friendly countries. |
