Miles Inaugurates Ophthalmology Clinic in Amioun, Hails Lebanese Australian Ties

Lebanon - Australia's Ambassador to Lebanon, Glenn Miles, hailed the deeply consolidated relations between Australia and Lebanon, notably with the significant number of Lebanese community members in Australia.

Ambassador Miles inaugurated on Thursday an ophthalmology clinic of Dr Abdulla Saadeh's dispensary in the northern town of Amioun, in cooperation with the Civil Authority for Local Development.

In his delivered word, Ambassador Miles said that Australia has provided more than $200 million to the United Nations in assistance to the displaced Syrians.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by scores of local dignitaries and municipal figures.

Dr. Saadeh Farah of ‘Abdulla Saadeh Institute’ thanked the Australian Embassy for its contribution in providing full equipment to the Ophthalmology Clinic, pointing out that the dispensary receives thousands of Lebanese and Syrian refugee patients annually, and provides them with the required treatments in all specialties and medicines.

Ambassador Miles, for his part, commended the humanitarian role played by the dispensary with around 7,000 patients benefiting annually from its  services.
