Ahmed Dib honours Mohammed Ali Abdullah (Abu Essam)

Sydney - M. E. Times Int'l: In a gesture of appreciation for his unlimited services, social activist Ahmed Dib held a ceremony honouring Mohammed Ali Abdullah (Abu Essam), one of the founders of the Marietta Charitable Association in Australia, who spent his years in social and humanitarian work.

 

NSW Legislative Council member Shaoquett Moselmane, expressed his pride in the Marietta Association. He praised Abu Essam and his social activities with the Association. He also praised the Lebanese-Australian community, where many of its members, who sacrificed and served with dedication and loyalty, have held high positions.

Mr Moselmane hailed the Australian Labor Party's policy, praising the party's recent commitment during its annual conference on recognition of the state of Palestine when the ALP will be in government.

He concluded his speech by praising the supportive role of the Honourable Bob Carr for the State of Palestine within the Labor Party.

Dib:

The State member for Lakemba Jihad Dib praised the town of Marietta and its people and expressed his pleasure and pride when he saw the mosque alongside the church in Marietta, during his visit to Lebanon last year.

He said that the start of his work began from the services and achievements of our first immigrants who preceded us to Australia, adding that anyone who works with sincerity and dedication can achieve success, and the goal of our migration to Australia is to work, sacrifice and giving.

Mr Dib praised Abu Essam and his activities, which has fulfilled many achievements of the Association of Marietta and its people.

Finn:

The State member for Granville Julia Finn spoke of the Council elections in September and expressed her support for Labor candidates.

She talked about what she witnessed during her visit to Lebanon last year and praised the Lebanese people and their wonderful hospitality.

In conclusion, she thanked the Marietta Society as president and members.

Khodr:

Everyone who plants good work is always remembered,” said Marietta president Mahmoud Khodr. “The Australian people are always reminded of the fact they left a lot of good and sincerity in Marietta and Lebanon during World War II.”

He also warned against racism, which was spread by some Australian politicians, pointing out Australia was the most beautiful and wonderful country in the world without racism and is renowned for its acceptance of multicultural backgrounds.  Then he talked about the services of Abu Essam and the history of Marietta men whom first migrated to Australia, stressing the positive influences of Abu Essam would remain in the hearts of the people of Marietta and all people knowing him.

Dr Alam Eddine:

Dr Mustafa Alam Eddine spoke on the role and the importance of the Lebanese associations in the creation of social centres, schools and the preservation of the Arabic language. Their effective contributions strength the communication and relationship between Australia and Lebanon.

He also expressed his pride in the achievements and positive signs achieved by the Lebanese community in various fields.

He concluded by praising Mr Mohammed Ali Abdullah (Abu Essam) for his efforts and services for more than 50 years.
